A Tank Closure Assessment is typically required when a fuel storage system is closed (i.e. removed,
replaced or abandoned-in-place). The Tank Closure Assessment consists of tasks to ensure that the
closure is properly performed and is in compliance with regulations. These tasks include description
of the method of closure, disposition of the tanks and other system components, soil and
groundwater testing, disposition of contaminated soil or groundwater, and preparation of a Tank
Closure Assessment Report.
